This magazine cover is very simple but bold and effective. there are 3 obvious main colours used which are white, red and blue which are the colours on the American flag which relates to Obama who is to be the next president of America. Also, on the word Obama, there are stars where the gaps are on the A's because there are also stars on the American flag. There are no straplines on it, which is unusual for a magazine but its still recognisable as one beacuse of other conventions used such as the masthead, main image and barcode. There is just one kicker so it's the main focus of the entire issue. The kicker says "its Obama time" which relates to the main image as Obama is looking at his watch. The skyline reads "special juice issue" and the "juice" is emphasised as its in red and the rest of it is blue. The red connects with the masthead just below it as that is also red and looks quite juicy and chunky. Obama's head covers part of the masthead which automatically shows its a recognisable magazine because the audience don't need to see the whole of it. Lastly, the background colour is plain white which matches Obama's shirt and makes everything on the page look bright, crisp and clean which may relate to Obama as its a fresh bright start for America with a new president.
